College Essay Idea & Structure Review

College Essay Idea & Structure Review

Have a draft, but unsure it is saying the right thing? Apoorv personally reads the statement and speaks with the student before recommending what to retain, develop, or reconsider.

One statement. A clear direction.

This review is for students who already have a working draft and want to understand whether its idea, evidence, and structure are doing the work they need to do.

We review one Common App personal statement or one complete UCAS personal statement, with all three UCAS answers read together. You receive an assessment of what is working and which changes deserve attention first.

What is included

  • Advance reading of one submitted draft and short background information
  • One call with the student, personally led by Apoorv
  • One written review, with comments on specific passages where useful and prioritised next steps

What we look at

The idea and prompt

What does the statement help the reader understand about this student? We examine whether the central idea answers the prompt and has enough specific evidence.

Evidence and reflection

We look for unsupported claims, thin reflection, repeated material, and experiences whose significance is not yet clear on the page.

Structure and emphasis

We examine the order, emphasis, and connections between ideas so the reader can follow what matters.

For UCAS: we review subject motivation, preparation, relevance of evidence, progression across the three answers, and repetition. We do not impose a US personal-narrative structure.

How it works

1. Share the context

Tell us whether the draft is for Common App or UCAS, when it is due, and your preferred call times. We confirm availability and the review timeline before payment, then explain how to share the draft privately.

2. Talk it through

Apoorv reads the draft before a call with the student. The conversation helps us understand the experiences, evidence, and thinking that may not yet be clear in the writing.

3. Receive your review

We explain our assessment and the most useful next steps. That may mean retaining the idea, changing its angle, or reconsidering the direction within the time available.

A review the student can act on

The written response explains our reasoning, with selected comments on the submitted draft where they help make the issue concrete. The student receives a prioritised revision plan and makes the changes themselves.

The scope is one submitted version

  • No second review after the student revises
  • No line-by-line editing or rewritten application prose
  • No supplemental essays or wider application management
  • No final proofread or certification that the application is ready to submit

A working draft is required. The student remains the author.

Common questions

Can we book without a draft?

This service needs a working draft. If the student has not yet found material or a direction, see our full essay coaching process or tell us where they are so we can suggest appropriate support.

Does UCAS count as three reviews?

No. We review all three UCAS answers together as one personal statement.

Will you rewrite the statement?

No. We explain what needs attention and why. The student makes the revisions and remains the author.

Does the fee include another review after changes?

No. It covers one submitted version, one student call, and one written review.

Can you help before our deadline?

Please include the submission deadline in your enquiry. We confirm availability and the review timeline before payment. We do not promise a rush turnaround before seeing the request.

How is this different from the Multi-Essay Review Package?

The package covers the personal statement and agreed supplemental responses, with two structured feedback rounds. This service focuses on one main statement and one review. Compare all three essay-support options.

Is this an extra fee for existing counseling families?

No. This standalone service is for families who need a separate review. Existing full-counseling families already have essay support within their agreed scope.
